Connor Group IT has deployed Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) to better manage and protect sensitive Microsoft Office files and email. MIP provides a robust and safe way to protect data shared through email or cloud storage.
Microsoft Office applications (such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) have a “Sensitivity” button allowing a classification to be set for files or email.
The Sensitivity button provides CG employees the ability to label Microsoft Office documents so they can be appropriately protected. The four MIP classifications are:
- General: Information not sensitive to CG, our Partners, or Clients.
- Sensitive: Information that should be kept between CG and our Partners or Clients. Encrypted, but can be accessed by anyone who can authenticate their identity with Microsoft.
- CG Only: Information that should not be accessed or shared outside of the Group. Encrypted, but can only be accessed by CG accounts.
- Confidential: Highly sensitive information that should be limited to a select few individuals. Encrypted, but can only be accessed by specifically identified CG accounts specified by the owner.
